We have an ultra-lite jiu-jitsu gi in testing right now. The tests are pretty simple. We gave the gi to one of the black belts at our school and asked him to beat the crap out of it.
The gi is a traditional cut 550 gram pearl weave. It is a slender gi and works best for those that don't like a lot of extra fabric in the shoulders.
The prototype is plain white without any patches or embroidery. The plan was to put some logos on it. I am second guessing that now. I love the way it looks plain. It is very unassuming.
The top and the pants are both ridiculously light weight. They are reinforced in all the key spots. If they can hold up to some hard training, we will leave them they way they are. It is possible we will go with a slightly heavier pant.
If you have any requests, jump over to the user forum and make a comment. There is a thread titled "What would you change about your current gi." Tell us what you want and help us design this gi.
Thanks,
Douglas
